What
we believe is that the girls need to be self sufficient in order to feel
confident. They need to fend for themselves, as then they will feel no need
for external protection. In order to that the trust has taken the following
initiatives:- 1. The girls plant their own crop and do all the farming. Rice is already being grown and harvested by the girls. 2. Techniques like wormiculture are being taught to the girls and some experiments have already been conducted at the hostel. 3. A number of fruit trees have been planted and the trust intends to build a greenhouse and a nursery also. 4. The girls have an inborn aptitude towards handicrafts and other similar skills, which need to be honed and groomed. The items that they make can then be sold at a profit, which will boost their confidence and make them realize their capabilities. 5. A small dairy needs to be set up. Besides just giving milk, the dung can also be used as manure. The girls will also develop a healthy respect towards animals and will realize how we can use them to benefit not only us but also the animals that support us. 6. The girls shall also need to start the gruh udyog activities. Kaprada is a village with wonderful weather and we need to take advantage of nature's gifts. Papads & pickles can be made using the sun that warms the village. The Chatralaya is just a small step, albeit important. Now we need to move ahead in leaps and bounds. This is not the time to rest on our laurels. To quote the famous lines of Robert Frost: - |
